To alleviate the current economic hardships faced by residents of Gombe State, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has authorized the distribution of essential food items to the state’s most vulnerable individuals.

This decision was made following resolutions at an Expanded Security Council Meeting, presided over by Governor Yahaya on Monday.

The Governor has approved the allocation of 1,000 bags of 50 kg sorghum, 1,000 bags of 25 kg rice, and 1,000 cartons of spaghetti pasta to deserving beneficiaries across Gombe State’s 11 local government areas.

Additionally, the extensive food aid program will include the distribution of 5,000 bags and cartons of the same items to faith-based groups, civil society organizations, unions and associations, student unions (GOSSA and NANS), tsangaya and almajiri schools, youth and women’s groups, and people living with disabilities, among other vulnerable community members.

This initiative marks the 19th time the government has provided such support to the residents of Gombe State, as part of ongoing efforts to offer relief and sustain their well-being during these challenging times.

The food aid is expected to significantly mitigate the hardships experienced by many in the state, particularly the most vulnerable.

Governor Yahaya remains committed to implementing effective measures to support the citizens and ensure their resilience, fostering social stability amid economic challenges, as stated by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at Government House, Gombe.
