Governor Abba Yusuf has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kano State after the nationwide hunger and bad governance protest in the country turns violent in the ancient city of Kano.

Hoodlums earlier looted the newly built Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park in Kano, setting the building on fire and making off with valuable equipment like computers, furniture, and electronics.

Governor Yusuf announced the curfew in a statement issued this evening by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa.

He explained that the decision was taken at the Emergency State Security Council meeting to safeguard lives and preserve public and private property and address the escalating violence that have emerged amid civil demonstrations.
