The Kano State Governor, His Excellecy Alhaji Abba Yusuf has ordered for the immediate arrest of the former Emir of the Kano Emirate, Aminu Ado Bayero.
The warrant according to the governor is for the peaceful existence of the state as his presence creates tension.
According to reports, Bayero, the former Emir was snuggled into Kano City on Friday night in an attempt to illegally return to the palace after he was deposed a couple of days ago.
It was however noted that after signing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law, the governor has deposed all other Emirs of the four Emirates created by his predecessor while also reinstalling Mohammed Sanusi II.
The reinstallation of Sanusi II also came with an order for the previous Emir to vacate the throne.
In an attempt to hinder the process, a court order was served to delay the process but Governor Yusuf went ahead to present the letter of appointment to Sanusi II and officially presented him to other chiefs on Friday.
In a statement issued by the Chief press secretary to the governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, the former Emir is to be arrested with immediate effect.
“The former Emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace two days after being deposed by the Governor.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed Emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the relative peace the state enjoys.”
