The Akwa Ibom State Governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed gratitude to the party for galvanizing support across its various structures toward the success of his administration over the last twenty months.
Speaking during a New Year visit to the party at the State Secretariat in Atan Offot, Uyo, the Governor said his visit was in line with the age-long tradition of leaders who emerge on the party’s platform.
He acknowledged the party as the owner of the government.
He assured that his administration would continue its grassroots-targeted development efforts to reciprocate the party’s goodwill and sustain its popularity across Akwa Ibom communities.
Governor Eno emphasized that his administration has focused on taking development to the grassroots and will continue to impact rural communities to reciprocate their massive support for his emergence as Governor and the pursuit of his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
To reinforce his alliance with the people, he reminded the party that he would soon commence a tour of federal constituencies for town hall meetings, urging stakeholders to come together and agree on what to present during the meetings.
He also disclosed plans to launch empowerment schemes during the town hall meetings on a Local Government Area basis, where farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs would be supported to boost the local economy.
Governor Eno further tasked party faithful who have been privileged to serve in the government in various capacities to make efforts to maintain fruitful relationships with their constituents.
He noted that this would boost their political value among the people and be advantageous to the party in sustaining its popularity.
He assured the party of his administration’s commitment to making them proud by delivering good governance to the people of the State in line with the ARISE Agenda.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan, thanked the Governor and leader of the party for the New Year visit and for his strong support for the party.
He reaffirmed the party’s support for the State Government.
The Party Chairman also conveyed the resolution of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State to endorse Pastor Umo Eno as the sole candidate of the party for the 2027 gubernatorial election in the State.
Representing the PDP National Leadership, the National Woman Leader, Hajiya Amina Darosimi, acknowledged Governor Umo Eno’s development strides and his capacity to build the State.
She declared that the party was proud of the Governor’s achievements.
According to the Woman Leader, the PDP remains committed to resisting any move to make Nigeria a one-party state.
She affirmed the party’s role as a viable opposition in the nation and reiterated its support to ensure that Governor Umo Eno continues in office to make the party proud.
