Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and security efforts of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Adamawa and the Northeast region.
However, he has raised concerns about the deployment of helicopters outside the state and called for a fair distribution of equipment among all states. Governor Fintiri has also urged the NAF to reconstruct the Forward Operational Base in Gombi and Madagali.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Nigerian Air Force, led by Air Marshal Hassan Bala, Governor Fintiri commended their efforts and made these appeals.
Air Marshal Bala shared that the NAF is set to receive 50 new aircraft in the next two years, with some of them being deployed to their base in Yola, Adamawa State, to enhance security in the Northeast region.
He assured the governor that these new aircraft, including advanced fighter jets, would contribute to restoring peace in the region.
Air Marshal Bala acknowledged the security challenges faced by the state, such as kidnappings and the activities of the Shilla Boys, and reiterated the NAF’s commitment to assisting in addressing these threats.
He also requested the extension of a drainage project in the state capital to the Air Force Comprehensive School fence due to concerns about erosion and flooding.
Governor Fintiri directed the Ministry of Works to address the erosion issue around the NAF Comprehensive School and promised to review the ground rate payment. He commended all security agencies for their collaboration in tackling insecurity in the state.
