In a recent statewide broadcast, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has voiced strong criticism towards President Bola Tinubu’s “deficit policy direction” and perceived “insensibility,” attributing these factors to the ongoing nationwide protests under the #EndBadGovernance banner. He asserts that these protests reflect the increasing hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians on a daily basis.

Governor Fintiri described the president as being “tone deaf” to the concerns of the populace, emphasizing that while the protests may not be universally popular—particularly due to the manner in which they have been conducted in certain states—their underlying message and demands remain valid.

He stated, “We cannot ignore the pressing issues of hunger and widespread poverty in our nation. These challenges have been exacerbated by severe economic realities, compounded by the government’s failure to engage meaningfully with its citizens.”

Fintiri highlighted that as leaders, it is crucial to not only listen to the grievances of the people but also to take decisive actions. He remarked, “The lessons from these protests serve as a constant reminder that it is insufficient to merely acknowledge the citizens’ concerns; we must be actively engaged in providing tangible solutions.”

Moreover, the governor pointed out that many of the protesters’ demands, which he regards as legitimate, pertain to micro-economic policies that fall under the purview of the national government. “This acknowledgment reflects the reality of our federal structure and constitutional framework,” he concluded.
