Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his dedication to effective governance, emphasizing that he will not be distracted by unnecessary issues that could hinder the execution of his responsibilities.

Speaking after receiving an honorary Doctor of Science degree for his valuable contributions to healthcare services in the state, Fubara highlighted his administration’s determination to create a safer environment for all citizens.

The remarks came during the fourth convocation ceremony of PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), held at its campus in Iriebe, located in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

The governor also expressed his commitment to generating opportunities that promote prosperity and rapid transformation across various sectors.

Despite facing unproductive political distractions, he remains resolute in his goal to leave a legacy of impactful development that exceeds what he inherited.

Earlier in the day, Governor Fubara launched two significant projects: the Sir Siminalayi Fubara Lecture Theatre, which accommodates 500 people, and a modern Medical Library equipped with e-library facilities.

With enthusiasm, Fubara stated, “We are actively promoting peace, security, and equitable development in our state, and our sincere commitment to the welfare of Rivers is evident to all. Our mandate is to collaborate with our citizens to elevate our state and communities, ensuring we achieve the highest standards of security, peace, and prosperity through responsible management of our shared resources.”

He praised former Governor Dr. Peter Odili for his visionary role in founding the institution, which he described as a meaningful contribution to society by delivering exceptional medical education to young Nigerians.

Fubara emphasized, “As Nigeria’s first private medical university, PUMS is dedicated to providing outstanding medical training aimed at producing world-class medical and health science professionals, grounded in the core values of knowledge, discipline, and humanitarian service.”

“In a time when many universities face declining standards, PUMS has distinguished itself as a beacon of excellence in medical education and training throughout Nigeria.”
