Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged ongoing collaboration with the Federal Government, specifically through the Federal Ministry of Works, to enhance the state’s road infrastructure.

This commitment was made during a courtesy visit from the Minister of State for Works, Barr. Bello Goronyo, at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja. Goronyo was accompanied by Engr. (Dr.) Chukwuemeka Agbasi, the Managing Director and CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), alongside other officials from the ministry and agency.

During the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of intergovernmental cooperation and assured the minister of Lagos State’s dedication to working together effectively.

“We will consistently back our central government and will continue to collaborate closely with your ministry and the agency you oversee,” he stated. “FERMA is a well-known entity in Lagos, and we recognize that infrastructure development is a key factor in demonstrating what any government has accomplished for its citizens.”

The governor further acknowledged the various roles that FERMA plays within the state, expressing the need for greater efforts from the agency to rehabilitate more roads, alleviate traffic congestion, and boost socio-economic growth.

He extended his congratulations to Goronyo on his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu, praising his unwavering dedication as a party member, which he believes will benefit all Nigerians.

In his remarks, Goronyo emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to investing in and delivering essential infrastructure for Nigerians. He stated that the visit aimed to reinforce the partnership between federal and state governments regarding infrastructure development, urging Lagos State to continue supporting federal projects within its borders.

“We must prioritize the repair of our national infrastructure seriously. This administration is focused on infrastructure, and we are dedicated to improving the nation’s road networks to foster socio-economic progress,” he asserted. “We seek your ongoing support and collaboration, and I trust that you will respond positively to our requests.”
