Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged landlords and property owners in the Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area to refrain from raising rents and land prices following the inauguration of the new Abiola-Onijemo link bridge.

The governor made this appeal on Monday during the unveiling ceremony of the newly constructed road and bridge in the Abiola and Onijemo communities.

Sanwo-Olu encouraged landlords to allow residents to fully enjoy the advantages brought by the new infrastructure. He emphasized that by keeping costs stable, landlords could contribute to the overall economic growth and benefits for their businesses.

The Abiola-Onijemo link road, according to the governor, aligns with his administration’s THEMES+ agenda, which focuses on enhancing traffic management and transportation to improve the welfare and productivity of Lagos residents.

He highlighted that the new road would greatly improve vehicle movement, shorten travel times, and boost local trade.

The governor also urged community members to take ownership of the link bridge and protect it. “This is a public asset. It belongs to you, and it’s your responsibility to safeguard it and ensure it is not misused,” he stated.
