Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Nigerians living overseas to explore the immense opportunities available in the country for both personal advancement and national development.

Speaking at the “ConnectED Diaspora Fireside Chat 2024” held at the Jk Randle Museum in Onikan, Lagos, Sanwo-Olu was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

He emphasized that recognizing and celebrating Nigeria’s accomplishments can instill a sense of pride among citizens and drive progress.

Sanwo-Olu encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to utilize their skills, talents, and resources to aid in the nation’s growth, highlighting Nigeria’s abundant resources and talented workforce as significant attractions for investment.

The governor expressed his satisfaction with the increasing number of young Nigerians returning home to invest across various sectors.

He reassured attendees that Lagos offers a safe and supportive environment for business and community development. “It’s encouraging to see people coming back home. They recognize that Lagos is secure, and they are engaging in business activities, understanding that it is a place for meaningful investment, whether financially, materially, or spiritually,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu also remarked on the promising future of Africa, driven by its most valuable asset: its people. He underscored the need to appreciate Nigeria’s history, culture, and traditions.

He concluded with optimism that initiatives like this would continue to expand, fostering further development in Nigeria.
