Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State, has expressed his support for the recent decision of some political associates of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha to join the All Progressive Congress (APC). He lauded their political insight, bravery, and wisdom, referring to them as “political magnets.”

Among the prominent figures making the switch is Chief Chris Okewulonu, a close ally and former Chief of Staff to Ihedioha during his brief seven-month tenure. Other notable defectors include Hon Chuma Nnaji, who previously served as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and was the PDP’s Deputy Governorship candidate in 2015, as well as Hon Jonas Okeke, the PDP candidate for Okigwe South.

During a reception for the new members at the party’s state secretariat over the weekend, Uzodinma acknowledged the significance of their bold decision, stating that he was not surprised, as “genuine members of the political class in Imo State are eager to see progress, regardless of their political affiliations.”

He further remarked, “We must commend your wisdom and courage in making this decision, and I warmly welcome all of you to our party. The real political stakeholders in Imo State have united once again. This signifies a Renewed Hope with a fresh agenda.”

The governor took the opportunity to update both existing and new party members about his ambitious programs and initiatives designed to enhance Imo State’s development and attract more people to the region. He expressed confidence that the new entrants would bring valuable experience from their backgrounds in both the public and private sectors.

Uzodinma emphasized his vision of establishing a comprehensive road network that would connect all three senatorial zones of Imo State, facilitating better access and communication among residents.

He also condemned the actions of those who claim to be leaders in Imo but covertly support and finance insecurity in the state, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives for political gain.
