Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has issued a directive for all transition committee chairmen in the 21 local government areas of the state to hand over their responsibilities to the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) in their respective councils.
The announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Collins Nwabunwanne, through a letter titled “Expiration of tenure and handover to Heads of Local Government Administrations (HLGAs)” dated May 17, 2024.
The Letter Read, “Following the expiration of your tenure as Transition Committee Chairman, you are hereby directed to handover the affairs of yoAnambra State has not held local government polls recently.”

The governor’s order will come into effect on Monday, May 20, 2024. The letter clearly states that with the expiration of their tenure as Transition Committee Chairmen, they are required to transfer the management of their respective local government councils to the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA).
