Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla, has spoken out against the bullying that led to Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a Miss South Africa finalist, withdrawing from the beauty pageant.
Adetshina, who is of Nigerian and Mozambican descent, became embroiled in a nationality controversy after advancing to the Top 16 of the Miss South Africa competition in July.
Despite making it to the Top 11, Adetshina recently pulled out from the contest following allegations from the South African Department of Home Affairs that her mother may have been involved in fraud and identity theft.
Reacting to the news, Tyla expressed her disappointment over the harsh treatment Adetshina faced, asserting that the model was bullied out of the competition. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Tyla stated, “Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it!”

Tyla further emphasized her stance against bullying, writing, “I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for.”
In the wake of Adetshina’s withdrawal, Miss Universe Nigeria extended an invitation to her to join their contest. However, Adetshina has yet to respond to the offer.
