As the governorship election in Edo State approaches on September 21, the Esan4OsadebeHouse2024Team, a socio-cultural organization focused on the Esan community, is urging all Esan individuals to unite their efforts and cast their votes for Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

The group stressed the importance of presenting a unified front to prevent the fragmentation of votes, which could pose significant risks and disadvantages to the Esan people.

In a statement issued following an urgent gathering in Benin on Sunday, titled “Unity and Support for Asue Ighodalo – A Call to Action,” and signed by Barr Engr. Patrick Egbadon Okpebholo, also known as Patsbolo, the organization highlighted that Esan stands at a pivotal moment in its history, with the chance to elect one of its own as governor.

The group cautioned that if the Esan people allow their decisions to be swayed by emotions instead of rational thought, it could lead to detrimental effects for their community.

The statement reads: “We, the Esan community, are at a significant crossroads in our history. The forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election offers an exceptional chance for us to support Asue Ighodalo, a candidate who has shown unwavering respect, commitment, and dedication to our collective well-being.

“Nevertheless, we are confronted with a challenge that could jeopardize our advancement: the threat of division and scattered votes. If we let our feelings dictate our choices and divide our backing, we may inadvertently aid the opposing forces, particularly the Labour Party (LP).

“The ramifications of such a scenario could be severe. It may take us another two decades before a similar opportunity arises for Esan to nominate a gubernatorial candidate again. We cannot afford to waste this moment.

“Thus, we call upon all Esan individuals to rally around Asue Ighodalo, our selected candidate. Let us combine our resources, efforts, and votes to secure his success. This is our chance, and we must take it.”
