Tragedy struck the Akpoha community in the Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Saturday night when gunmen launched a deadly attack, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.

Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, provided an update on Sunday, he assured the public that law enforcement officials are actively pursuing the perpetrators of this heinous act. “Our operatives are on the trail of the assailants,” Ukandu stated, emphasizing the commitment of the police to apprehend those responsible and ensure they face justice.
He described the attack as a “heinous act” and reiterated the determination of the police to bring the culprits to justice. “We are doing everything within our power to track down these criminals. This kind of violence will not be tolerated, and we are dedicated to making sure the perpetrators are held accountable.”
In the aftermath of the attack, the bodies of the deceased have been transported to a morgue, while several wounded residents are receiving medical treatment. The community is left grappling with the shock and grief caused by the sudden loss of life and the disruption of their peace.
