Four persons were reported dead on Sunday when two vehicles collided in the MRI area of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway.

This is just as four others sustained varying degrees of injury in the crash that happened at about noon.

Giving an update on the accident, the Chief Route Commander of the Ogun State Command, Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, told our correspondent that seven adults and a child were involved in the crash.

She disclosed that the wrongful overtaking by one of the vehicles led to a rear collision and the eventual death of the victims.

Okpe said, “The crash involved two vehicles, a wine Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and a white convoy bus with registration number AKD232XV
“Eight people were involved in the crash. Six male adults, one female adult, and one female child. A total of four people were killed, two male adults, one female adult, and one female child, while four male adults were injured.

“The suspected causes of the crash were speed and wrongful overtaking, which led to the rear collision of the two vehicles.”
The FRSC spokesperson who empathised with the families of the deceased, however, warned motorists on speed and obedience to road signs.

“The injured victims were taken to Dasochris Hospital, Gbaga, Ogijo while the family took custody of the corpses.

“The Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command, CC Anthony Uga, sympathised with the family of the crash victims and advised motorists to desist from speeding and give total attention to driving, as it is very important to be sure of when to overtake and not at will. He further urged motorists to ensure road markings on overtaking are obeyed,” she concluded.
