The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has issued a public apology for a previous statement claiming that those who do not pay tithes would not enter heaven.
His earlier comments on tithing stirred considerable debate, with many Nigerians questioning the scriptural foundation for such a claim.
In a recent sermon, Pastor Adeboye admitted that his stance was incorrect and not biblically supported. He expressed regret for the confusion his remarks caused among believers and asked for forgiveness from anyone who may have been misled.
“I’m apologizing for a mistake I made,” he said. “I had stated that you might not make it to heaven if you don’t pay tithe. I’m sorry, that’s wrong. It is not in the Bible. The Bible says, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.’”
