Singer Korede Bello has shed light on his decision to part ways with Don Jazzy’s Mavins Records, a label he joined in 2014 and exited in 2021. In a recent interview hosted by reality star Kim Oprah, Bello opened up about the reasons behind his departure.
The “Godwin” hitmaker revealed that his decision was rooted in a need for personal growth and a deeper connection to his purpose.
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why,” Bello shared during the interview.
He further explained that his time at Mavins began to feel like a routine centred solely on financial gain, leading to a sense of disconnection from his passion. “Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.”
Bello also touched on the pressures of constantly chasing the next hit, which can often lead to losing sight of what truly matters. “You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”
