Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has opened up about the preferential treatment he received from his legendary father, the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, compared to his siblings.

During an appearance on the Zero Conditions podcast, Seun fondly recalled his childhood, emphasizing how he was pampered by his father.

Seun, who joined Fela’s Egypt 80 band at the tender age of 8, described Fela as his “favorite person in the world” and shared that his experience with Fela as a father was different from that of his siblings.

“If you asked my brothers, they could say he’s a terrible dad, but to me, he was an amazing father,” Seun stated.

He also admitted to never having done laundry in his life due to the pampering he received. “You don’t know how spoilt I was growing up. Till now, I have never done laundry in my life. I don’t know how to wash anything. I’m not bragging,” he added.
