Following the tragic incident at a funfair in Ibadan that left several attendees injured and several dead, Agidigbo FM has distanced itself from organizing the event.
The management of the radio station issued a statement on Wednesday, clarifying its role and urging the public to verify information before spreading false claims.
According to the statement, Agidigbo FM was not in any way involved in the planning or execution of the funfair.
“We sympathize with the victims and their families, but we must clarify that Agidigbo FM was not the organizer of the event in question,” the station’s management said.
The tragedy, which occurred on Wednesday , involved a mishap at the event venue, leading to injuries among attendees. Eyewitness accounts had initially linked Agidigbo FM to the event, prompting the station to set the record straight.
The statement further warned against the dangers of misinformation, especially during sensitive times.
“We urge the public to rely on verified sources for information and avoid the spread of unverified claims that could cause further distress to the victims and their families,” it added.
Agidigbo FM also called on relevant authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure accountability.
The station reiterated its commitment to serving as a credible source of news and entertainment for its audience.
