The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police in key states, including Rivers, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. This decision aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force across the country.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the redeployment is part of a strategic move to strengthen the police force.
The redeployment includes:
- CP Olatunji Disu, previously Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, now appointed as CP for the FCT.
- CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, formerly with the Delta State Command, now appointed as CP for Rivers State.
- CP Peter Opara, previously with the FCT, now appointed as CP for Delta State.
Additionally, with the approval of the Police Service Commission, four new Commissioners of Police have been assigned to the Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom State Commands:
- CP Danladi Nda to Abia State Command
- CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos State Command
- CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya to Ebonyi State Command
- CP Festus Eribo to Akwa-Ibom State Command
This strategic reshuffling reflects the IGP’s commitment to optimizing police resources and improving operational efficiency. IGP Egbetokun has urged the new Commissioners to diligently perform their duties and adopt innovative strategies to address security challenges in their areas. He also encouraged them to embrace the ongoing police reforms, which are vital for the advancement of the Nigeria Police Force and the overall progress of the country.
