The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commenced a two-day working visit to Enugu State on Friday to bolster security and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders in the region.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja.
During his visit, the IGP met with the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter N. Mbah, to discuss strategies for enhancing the state’s security architecture and ensuring the protection of lives and property.
The statement also revealed that the IGP visited the Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, where he was warmly received by the Chairman, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Asabo, and other traditional leaders.
The IGP emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in community-based security and called for their sustained support in tackling the state’s security challenges.
“This visit underscores the IGP’s commitment to community-oriented policing and his resolve to engage diverse stakeholders to build trust, enhance cooperation, and implement proactive crime prevention measures in Enugu and the South-East region,” the statement read.
While addressing officers and men of the Enugu Police Command, the IGP stressed the need for discipline, professionalism, and empathy in their interactions with citizens. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to protecting lives and property while fostering peace, stability, and development nationwide.
The IGP was accompanied by top police officials, including DIG Frank Mba, AIG Zone 13 Godwin Aghaulor, AIG Kwazhi Bzigu Dali of FCID Annex Enugu, and the Commissioners of Police for Enugu and Anambra States, among others.
