Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has expressed deep concerns over the rising trend of “fake miracles” in some churches, calling on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the federal government to take action.

In a post shared on Instagram Wednesday, Ogbonna condemned the exploitation of people’s faith for personal gain, labeling it a betrayal of the gospel. He urged Christians to be vigilant against social media trends that disrespect their religion while emphasizing the need for accountability within the church.

Ogbonna stated, “It is heartbreaking to see pastors faking miracles to deceive and exploit vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit.”

The actor further urged religious bodies and the government to intervene, saying, “I call on government and religious bodies like the CAN to step up, regulate, and hold bad actors accountable. Christianity is not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith!”

Ogbonna’s comments follow the circulation of controversial videos involving members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries. In one instance, an elderly woman claimed she overpowered armed robbers after declaring “I’m a chosen,” while another man testified that a lion saved him from kidnappers. Another testimony involved a man who allegedly survived machete attacks and gunfire unscathed.

These claims have sparked widespread discussions online, with many questioning their authenticity and the motives behind such declarations.
