The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially confirmed the arrest of convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border while he was attempting to flee the country.
The national spokesperson of the Immigration Service, DCI Kenneth Udo, stated that Bobrisky is a “person of interest” concerning recent public concerns. ThePaan reported earlier that the service was mum on the development as its national public relations officer, DCI Kenneth Udo, ignored calls, WhatsApp messages, and text messages sent to his mobile line.
The service further disclosed that he is being interrogated and will be handed to the appropriate authorities for further action. Udo emphasised the NIS’s commitment to maintaining professionalism in managing the country’s borders and reassured the public of their ongoing efforts to secure border areas.
The statement reads: “ In keeping with NIS’s commitment to securing the borders, our eagle-eyed men and officers, stationed at the border, intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, otherwise known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country. “The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
“The service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders”. It concluded that ThePaan reports that this development followed the alarm raised by social media activist Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMam (VDM).
The activist broke the news that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border in a video posted on his Instagram page on Monday while attempting to flee to the Benin Republic to avoid the ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
