The Imo State Government has categorically rejected recent posters that depict Governor Hope Uzodinma as the potential running mate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Authorities have labeled these posters as fraudulent and insidious, suggesting they aim to create discord between Uzodinma and President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released by Declan Emelumba, the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, the proliferation of these posters on social media has been attributed to troublemakers seeking to stir unrest. Emelumba asserted that Governor Uzodinma has never entertained thoughts of pursuing such a position.

“Everyone in Nigeria knows that Uzodinma is a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu and has actively advocated for his success in office,” Emelumba stated.

“The idea that he would even consider a vice-presidential role is utterly ridiculous. He is fully committed to fulfilling his second term obligations while backing Mr. President, so where does this ridiculous rumor originate?”

The Commissioner accused detractors of the current federal government of spreading false information to cause rifts between Tinubu and his loyal supporters. He noted that the failure of recent nationwide protests has prompted the opposition to resort to disseminating fabricated news as a means to divide the ruling party.

Emelumba urged those spreading what he termed “a web of lies” to cease their activities, which he claimed threaten the harmonious relationship between the federal and state governments.

“To clarify unequivocally, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has no ambitions for the vice presidency, either now or in 2027. Any claims to the contrary are fake, malicious, and unfounded, and should be dismissed,” he concluded.
