The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 86.55% of the results from the Edo governorship election, amounting to a total of 3,911 out of 4,519 results, onto the INEC Results Viewing (IReV) portal.
As of 6:22 PM, these results became accessible for the public to examine at their convenience, allowing for real-time monitoring of the electoral process.
With these updates, all political parties involved are now informed regarding the current leading candidate in the election.
Additionally, Anugbum Onuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo, has confirmed that the results from the governorship election will be transmitted electronically. In an interview on Saturday, Onuoha emphasized that only poor network connectivity could potentially hinder the transmission of results to the viewing portal (IReV).
“We have adequately trained the operators for the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). They are fully prepared. The BVAS is designed to authenticate voters and ascertain the total number of individuals eligible to vote at each polling unit,” he stated.
“Once this is completed, the voting process will commence. At the conclusion of the voting, the results will be tallied and subsequently uploaded to our IReV platform,” he added.
