The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has officially instructed its members to refrain from participating in the ongoing #EndHunger protests across the nation.

This directive was conveyed in a statement released on Friday by IPMAN’s national president, Abubakar Shettima, and national secretary, James Terlumun. The protests, which commenced on Thursday, are set to continue until August 10.

In their statement, IPMAN urged its members to maintain composure and focus on their business operations, reassuring them that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is actively working towards the country’s economic revitalization.

The association also encouraged Nigerians to prioritize dialogue, constructive engagement, and understanding while advocating for their needs, emphasizing that this is not a time for unnecessary violence and destruction of property in the name of protest.

IPMAN warned its members against being drawn into chaos by what they termed “faceless individuals” who do not have Nigeria’s best interests at heart.

“Globally, protests are typically organized by recognized groups with accountable leaders who ensure a peaceful approach. However, when demonstrations are initiated by anonymous groups lacking known leadership, the likelihood of violence increases significantly,” the statement read.

In light of this understanding, IPMAN is urging its members and the public to avoid being entangled in potential turmoil that could result in loss of life and property in an already stable Nigeria.
