The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared daily part-time programmes offered by some institutions in Nigeria as illegal.
This announcement came from JAMB Registrar, Professor Isiaq Oloyede, during his official visit to the Ibadan zonal office on Monday.
Oloyede addressed recent complaints against the Ibadan office, stating that allegations of incompetence were unfounded.
He emphasized that many issues faced by students stem from their own actions and not from JAMB’s handling.
The Registrar highlighted specific cases, including students seeking retroactive changes or adjustments, which JAMB cannot accommodate.
He also clarified that JAMB is not involved in the registration or processing of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, and cannot convert part-time OND programmes to full-time status.
Oloyede criticized the practice of institutions admitting more students on a part-time basis than their official capacity allows and noted that such students should not expect JAMB to alter their status to full-time.
