Azeez Olajide Adediran, known as Jandor and the former governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Funso Doherty to bring about significant changes in the state’s governance. Jandor hailed Doherty’s recent switch from the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) to the PDP as a positive step forward.

According to Naija News, Doherty announced his decision to join the main opposition party on Monday, stating that his move aims to create a united opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, Jandor emphasized that Doherty’s defection marks the beginning of a series of movements that will see more APC leaders seeking change align with the PDP as the 2027 elections approach.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mr. Funso Doherty, the former ADC gubernatorial candidate, into our fold,” Jandor stated. “His decision to join the PDP reflects a growing commitment among Lagosians to unite for a brighter future.”

He further asserted, “Mr. Doherty will not be the only one to join our cause. We anticipate that numerous prominent figures from the APC and other political parties who are yearning for a shift in governance will soon make similar announcements.”

Jandor described Doherty as a respected technocrat-turned-politician and expressed his confidence in their partnership with other dedicated stakeholders. “Together, we will strive to liberate Lagos from the self-interested leadership that has governed the state for too long. Our collective efforts will pave the way for a new era in Lagos by 2027,” he concluded.
