Jewels Leading Lights International (JLLI), an innovative educational institution blending Montessori, Nigerian, and British curricula, has inaugurated its state-of-the-art facility in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The grand opening and graduation ceremony held on Friday attracted a diverse group of stakeholders, including diplomats, parents, and educators, marking a significant milestone in the Nigerian education sector.
The event began with a formal tape-cutting ceremony and prayers led by Rev. Onyinye Alfred. The festive occasion featured a variety of presentations and performances by the students, showcasing the talent and potential fostered within the school’s walls. In an interview,
Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oboh, the Director of JLLI, emphasized the school’s commitment to nurturing local talent, fostering intellectual growth, and promoting academic excellence. She highlighted the institution’s goal of developing a skilled workforce that can drive socio-economic growth and stability across Nigeria.
Mrs. Oboh explained that JLLI’s investment in advanced technology and resources is designed to encourage innovation, critical thinking, and practical skills among students, preparing them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. “Our vision is to prepare children for a global world, children who will be innovative and make a difference in Nigeria and the world at large,” she stated.
The school offers an international primary curriculum, the Cambridge curriculum, and the Nigerian curriculum, integrating state-of-the-art educational technology to ensure students are competitive globally.
She further elaborated on the school’s facilities, noting that their library and laboratory resources rival those found abroad. “We equip our library with the understanding that leaders are readers, and those who make change must acquire knowledge. The kind of lab facilities we have here can only be found abroad, not in Nigeria, and we did it because we understand that experience is very important,” Mrs. Oboh said.
The director also spoke passionately about the school’s boarding facilities, designed to be a “home away from home.” She expressed her satisfaction in seeing children happy and engaged in their learning environment. “If you bring your child here, rest assured that your child will stand out among their peers. Our doors are open to everyone, with admissions taking place this September for the 2024/2025 academic session,” she added.
Guest speaker Mr. Fola Daniel, an acclaimed administrator and business mogul, lauded the founders of JLLI for their dedication to educational excellence. He encouraged attendees to reflect on using their resources to create positive impacts and legacies. “Let us inspire the next generation with the value of giving as a cornerstone of a fulfilling and meaningful life. The true value of work lies in the ability to transform lives and communities,” Mr. Daniel said.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding graduating students from the Year 9 and Year 12 classes. The new facility, located in the serene Life-Camp area of Abuja, aims to bridge gaps in educational infrastructure and provide students aged 2 to 18 with modern, well-equipped learning environments. JLLI operates both day and boarding systems, striving to elevate the overall quality of education in Nigeria to meet international standards.
The founders of JLLI believe in a holistic approach to education, extending beyond traditional classroom learning to include a wide range of extracurricular activities, community engagement initiatives, and global perspectives. This comprehensive approach ensures that students graduate as well-rounded individuals poised to make significant contributions to society.
Jewels Leading Lights International is setting a new standard for educational excellence in Nigeria. By combining advanced curricula, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to holistic development, JLLI is preparing the next generation of leaders to innovate and excel on the global stage.
