The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concern over the activities of a small group of individuals attempting to create problems within the party through defamatory campaigns against its leaders.
In a statement issued by State Party Chairman Alh. Ami Sani Gumel, the party revealed that it has been closely monitoring various posts on social media and traditional media that indicate a deliberate effort by some unscrupulous actors to create issues within the APC.
The party characterized these mischief-makers as insignificant figures, noting that they are not even registered members of the APC. They are seen as pawns used by a handful of narrow-minded party members to promote a detrimental agenda that threatens the peace and stability of the party.
The statement further emphasized that the APC government in Jigawa, led by Governor Malam Umar Namadi, represents a continuation of the successful governance established by former Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.
Both leaders are held in high regard within the party, and their reputations are considered crucial and must be protected from any slanderous claims.
The Jigawa APC affirmed its commitment to preventing any misguided individuals from creating unrest or scenarios that could hinder the party’s ability to fulfil its campaign promises in Jigawa State and across Nigeria.
Recently, there were outrageous reports by unidentified APC members, allegedly funded to stain the reputation of the Honorable Minister of Defense, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar. Chairman Sani Gumel stated that efforts are underway to identify those behind these slanderous actions and take disciplinary measures.
In the aforementioned reports, a faceless group, lacking any affiliation with the APC headquarters in Jigawa, made numerous unfounded allegations against the minister, including claims of anti-party activities, which the party leadership has categorically dismissed as baseless.
The statement questioned these individuals, asking, “Where were they when the Minister served as the APC North West Campaign Coordinator, successfully securing Jigawa State and the region for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general elections?”
The ruling APC in Jigawa assured that it would utilize all necessary means, both within the party and by the law, to identify the group behind these actions and take appropriate political and legal steps.
