The People Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa state, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, has called on the federal government to copy from some developed countries where Petrol and other flammable items transported by rail to prevent tanker accidents and explosions that are claiming lives of people in the country.
Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido made the call while fielding questions to newsmen at Majia village when paid the families and relatives of the deceased and victims of the last Tuesday Tanker explosion, which killed 180 and injured over 80 people.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate said, “This accident and many others that occurred in different parts of the country can be a case study to the federal government and do something to bring an end to this disaster.
According to him, “something like this should be a big lesson for the government to take immediate action and for the general public to know what to do in case hits happen. They should run far from the place and report to the police and fire service for action”.
He stated further that “people should avoid going after the products whenever such things happen, leave the place by far and report to the authority.”
“This is a disturbing moment, a situation where we lost over 170 people and dozens sustained various degrees of injuries. It 8s touching to lose this number and the majority of male youth. We are praying for God Almighty’s forgiveness and quick recovery by the injured ones”.
Alhaji Lamido said, “This is a touching event that would remain in our memories, the first and the worst incident that offsets any Jigawa people and Nigerians.
A report from the state indicated that the number of deaths as of today is over 180, an increase of 100 percent from the initial deaths of 90 people, with 50 injured and admitted to several hospitals in Jigawa, Kano, and Yobe states to receive receiving medical attention.
