Mr. Olubunmi Agbaje, the eldest son of prominent Nigerian politician Mr. Jimi Agbaje, is set to be laid to rest in Canada on Friday.

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Olubunmi passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Canada. At the age of 41, Olubunmi, the firstborn of Mr. Agbaje, who had previously run for governorship under the PDP in Lagos State and served as a Chieftain of the Afenifere Renewal Group.

Jimi Agbaje shared details of the burial arrangements with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during a telephone conversation in Lagos on Wednesday.

He mentioned that the family plans to organize a special memorial service for their late son in Lagos at a later time, following the burial in Canada. Agbaje expressed his brief sentiments on his son’s passing, stating that the family has entrusted this profound loss to their faith in God.

In his words, he expressed that “His mother and I, indeed the entire extended family, cannot describe our pains. The shock is still there but in all, we give in to the will of God.

“We cannot question God and we know HE alone will help us to heal with time.”

He pursued his A levels at Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire, England, and initially began his university education at the University of Plymouth.

Later, he transferred and successfully completed his undergraduate studies at the University of the West of England (Bristol), followed by postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham. Before his passing, he held roles as a marketing manager with various consumer packaged goods companies in both Nigeria and Canada.
