The Coalition of Political Groups in Kaduna has praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its unity and well-structured organization, which they believe have solidified its reputation as a credible choice among voters.
This assertion was articulated in a statement issued by the coalition’s co-conveners, Ibrahim Kachia and Solomon Maiyaki. The statement was also endorsed by other key members, including Dr. Victor Bobai, Public Relations Officer, Blessing Daniel, Secretary General, and Hajiya Aisha Zango, Women Leader.
In their statement released in Kaduna on Saturday, the coalition emphasized that the APC has demonstrated a commendable internal organization, allowing it to effectively tackle urgent national issues.
The coalition remarked, “The APC has established itself as a party committed to development, actively advocating for inclusive governance and policies that resonate with the populace’s needs. This proactive engagement significantly enhances the APC’s attractiveness as voters increasingly seek a party that not only recognizes their challenges but also strives to address them in meaningful ways.”
“Furthermore, the APC’s emphasis on infrastructure enhancement and economic innovation aligns with Nigerians’ aspirations for initiatives that can uplift their circumstances. The party’s portrayal as a vehicle for change has also drawn voters in search of improved governance.”
The coalition expressed apprehension regarding the current status of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the main opposition and the ramifications this holds for Nigerian politics.
They specifically pointed out that the PDP’s internal conflicts and leadership challenges have raised serious doubts about its credibility as a viable opposition force. The outcomes of previous elections, particularly the recent governorship contest in Edo State, have illustrated the precarious position of the party.
The coalition noted, “Moreover, recent developments in Kaduna State, especially in Southern Kaduna, have highlighted the diminishing influence of the PDP. The exit of prominent individuals and their followers from the party underscores an urgent need for introspection. The notable withdrawal of figures such as Senator Shehu Sani, accompanied by 10,000 supporters, indicates a troubling trend. This growing discontent is steering political allegiance towards the APC.”
The coalition further warned that the political dynamics in Southern Kaduna, an area that has historically shown substantial support for the PDP since 1999, may be on the verge of transformation.
