During the plenary session on Wednesday, Henry Zacharia, the chairman of the ad hoc committee, stated that a significant portion of the loans acquired under Mr. El-Rufai’s tenure were not utilized for their intended purposes.

Furthermore, he noted instances where proper procedures were not followed in obtaining these loans.

Upon receiving the report, Speaker Yusuf Liman asserted that a staggering sum of N423 billion was misappropriated by El-Rufai’s administration, leading to substantial liabilities for the state.

Consequently, the committee has recommended the investigation and prosecution of Mr. El-Rufai, as well as other implicated members of his cabinet, by security and anti-corruption agencies.

Additionally, the committee has advised the immediate suspension of Shizer Badda, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance, who held the same position during El-Rufai’s administration.

The chairman of the state universal basic education board is also to be suspended.

Furthermore, it has been proposed that a thorough investigation into key officials from the previous administration be conducted by appropriate law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.
