The Kano State police command has placed a ban on all parties taking part in the Durbar activities during Eid-el-Kabir Celebration in the state.

The ban is placed, according to the Police CP to ensure peace and security in the state.

Recall that former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi was reinstalled as the Emir of Kano State after the new Kano Emirate law has abolished all other Emirates only for the existence of the Kano Emirate.

The state has been on serious religious unrest since then and several attacks and counter attacks have been happening as the Police try to restore parity in the state.

The State commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel in a statement issued on Thursday said that the ban became necessary to sustain peace in the state.

“In furtherance, a ban on all contending parties has been placed, retraining both conducting Durbar activities for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir Celebration “.

He however advised worshipers to conduct their normal Eid prayers at various designated praying grounds as was traditionally done in the past.
