Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been handed his appointment letter as the Emir of Kano to continue his reign in the emirate despite court order.
The announcement to reinstate Sanusi II as the Emir of the Kano Emirates four years after he was dethroned by the former governor of the state who created four other Emirates to make it five thereby sending the former CBN boss to exile.
Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday signed the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law after it was passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The appointment letter presentation took place today after a court ex-parte was served earlier on by the Kano State judge of the federal high court.
But during the presentation of the appointment letter to Sanusi on Friday, the Kano State governor spoke in Hausa about the court order stopping him from dissolving the Kano Emirates created by the previous administration.
According to him, the judge who was out of the country had no right to stop what the state assembly had done using due process.
