Abdullahi Ahmed, the representative of Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency in Katsina State, has recently provided a substantial financial boost to his constituents by awarding a N35 million grant to 70 individuals with viable business plans.
This initiative, announced during an event in Musawa on Sunday, is aimed at offering financial support and relief to those seeking to start or expand their businesses amidst the current economic challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Ahmed emphasized that the initiative is designed to enable individuals to invest and secure a decent livelihood. “This initiative is geared towards providing financial support to help individuals invest in their businesses and generate a decent livelihood for the necessities of life,”
he said. Each of the 70 beneficiaries, selected from across the 21 political wards of the constituency, will receive N500,000 as a non-refundable business grant. This financial aid is intended to make them self-reliant and financially independent.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Sardauna Francis, Ahmed also announced the distribution of 100 tricycle-wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities and 2,500 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the constituency. These gestures further highlight his commitment to supporting his constituents and fostering inclusive socio-economic growth.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that the empowerment fund, along with the wheelchairs and fertilizer, would enable the beneficiaries to realize their full potential, contribute to the local economy, and secure a brighter future for themselves and their families.
“These empowerment initiatives aim to cushion the current economic hardships, drive small-scale entrepreneurship, improve farming activities, and alleviate the sufferings of persons living with disabilities in the constituency,” he stated.
Ahmed, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Interior, reiterated his dedication to bringing meaningful development to Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency. “Our people have given us the mandate in March, and this is the time to deliver meaningful development through quality representation and sustainable dividends of democracy,” he declared.
The APC lawmaker also pledged to sustain multi-sectoral interventions in agriculture, education, road infrastructure, and health sectors for the betterment of his constituency. He assured that he would continue to utilize his legislative position to propose bills, motions, and other legislative instruments aimed at enhancing the living standards of his constituents and the state at large.
During the event, the state acting governor, Faruk Lawal, commended Ahmed for his pro-masses projects and urged other lawmakers in the state to emulate his efforts. Lawal praised Ahmed as an accomplished lawmaker and politician whose impact on his constituency and the state is commendable. “All these initiatives by the federal lawmaker align with the developmental agenda of Dikko Umaru Radda’s forward-thinking government of Katsina State,” he added.
In his address, Bala Abu, the vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, assured that supervisory measures would be implemented to ensure the proper utilization of the funds, aiming to multiply them significantly within a short period. He also highlighted Ahmed’s donation of 1,000 security lights to improve the security of the area and a donation of N50,000 each to all the traditional leaders who attended the event.
Abu further noted Ahmed’s contributions to road infrastructure in the constituency. He announced the awarding of a new contract for the construction of a six-kilometer road and the rehabilitation of major roads in the area. These efforts underscore Ahmed’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and overall well-being of his constituency.
