The Katsina State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee has addressed the growing internal rift that threatens the party’s unity ahead of key political engagements in the state.

Speaking to the media, Lawal Audi Yar’adua, the spokesperson for the caretaker committee, responded to recent controversies sparked by a faction within the party. He dismissed what he called “misleading information” propagated by a group led by Salisu Uli, a former chairman of the PDP.

According to Thepaan, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Salisu Uli held a press briefing at the Katsina PDP state headquarters, raising concerns that five days before the end of the scheduled form sales for the purported congress elections, the forms were still unavailable.

Refuting these claims, Audi stated that the sales of forms had been transparently communicated and concluded over two months prior. He explained that Uli’s faction chose not to participate, as they were busy contesting the legitimacy of the Caretaker Committee and neglecting the structured processes of the party, including endorsement procedures at ward and local government levels.

Audi suggested that Uli’s actions might be influenced by external forces, particularly hinting at political motivations from the Katsina APC. He accused Uli and his supporters, including Salisu Majigiri, a House of Representatives member, of aligning with forces within the APC to weaken the Katsina PDP following former Governor Ibrahim Shema’s defection to the APC.

He urged party unity against such “attempts to destabilize the PDP,” praising Senator Lado Danmarke’s leadership and dedication to the people. “Senator Lado Danmarke embodies the true spirit of service and compassion that defines our party. His unwavering commitment to the people of Katsina State sets him apart from those whose only agenda is to sow discord and division,” declared Audi.

Dan Audi expressed confidence in the PDP’s resilience, urging party members to stay united and supportive despite internal challenges.
