Kendrick Lamar is poised to make history as the first rapper to headline a Super Bowl halftime show solo. The National Football League (NFL), Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced on Sunday that the Grammy-winning artist will take center stage during the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show on February 9th in New Orleans.

Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation, praised Lamar, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer.” He added, “He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. [His] work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Lamar also shared his thoughts on the monumental opportunity. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he stated, signaling his commitment to delivering a powerful performance.

This will not be Lamar’s first appearance at the Super Bowl. He previously graced the stage in 2022 as part of the event’s inaugural showcase for hip-hop music. However, this solo performance marks a significant milestone in his career.
