The parish priest of Saint Thomas Catholic Church in Zaman Dabo, located in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Reverend Father Gabriel Ukeh, has successfully regained his freedom after being kidnapped. The community was thrown into a state of distress when the priest was abducted from the Rectory of St Thomas Parish, Zaman Dabo, on Sunday, June 9th, 2024.
The ordeal lasted until late Monday, June 10th, 2024, when the priest was finally released. Reverend Father Gabriel Okafor, the Director-General of Communications for the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese, confirmed the release, stating that the priest was freed at approximately 9 pm on Monday. This news brought a wave of relief and joy to the parishioners and the larger community who had been anxiously awaiting his return.
Father Okafor expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support received from various quarters during this challenging period. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of all those who worked around the clock to ensure Reverend Father Ukeh’s safe and speedy release. He highlighted the crucial role played by the community’s prayers and solidarity, which provided immense strength and encouragement to everyone involved in the rescue efforts.
