Nigerian-born UFC star Israel Adesanya, also known as the Last Stylebender, recently stirred controversy with remarks about women in Lagos.

In a video shared on his official X account, Adesanya alleged that many women in Lagos are engaged in prostitution, commonly referred to as “runs girls.”

Adesanya criticized Lagos women for their ostentatious behaviour, suggesting that the funds they use to support their lifestyles often come from their involvement in prostitution. He urged them to adopt a more humble and friendly demeanour.

Speaking in Yoruba, Adesanya stated, “Lagos women like to flaunt and are proud. Many of you are involved in ‘runs.’ I understand what that means now—‘kobo kobo,’ or ‘ashewo.’

“You want to show off and pose. It’s pointless. Just be nice, be friendly, and say hello.”

Adesanya’s comments come shortly after he arrives in Lagos, where he was met with a warm reception following his loss to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305 in Perth.
