The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has reassured its members and the public of a seamless and successful state congress set for today, Saturday. Usman Okai Austin, the Chairman of the Kogi State PDP Congress Committee, issued a statement affirming that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure that the congress is conducted transparently, meeting all legal and constitutional requirements.
Okai expressed optimism that the congress will result in a dynamic new state working committee, strengthening the party’s position as a formidable opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing speculations about possible legal challenges, Okai dismissed such rumours, stating, “There are no court summons or orders against the congress,” and labelling the claims as mere political gossip. He acknowledged that dissatisfaction is common in competitive electoral processes, particularly among those displeased with outcomes.
The committee further noted that the three-man ad-hoc delegates’ process has been successfully concluded, with an appeals committee already in place. The process has received the endorsement of the PDP’s National Working Committee in Abuja, which has addressed any concerns stemming from the ad-hoc congress.

Delegates and members have been urged to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the congress. The party assured that extensive security measures are in place to protect delegates travelling from all 21 local government areas of the state.
“As we approach this pivotal congress, the PDP wishes all delegates and members a safe journey and reiterates its commitment to representing the people’s interests after the convention,” Okai stated.
In response to speculation about a potential second congress, the party dismissed such notions as wishful thinking, asserting that the Kogi PDP is set to emerge from this congress with renewed energy and a clear mandate to serve the people.
