Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has reiterated his concerns regarding the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

In a recent interview, the former Governor of Kano State voiced his frustration with individuals who, while claiming to represent Northern interests, meddle in the candidate selection process for the presidency. He argued that these actions foster division within the community, undermine democratic principles, and ultimately lead to the election of unqualified leaders.

Kwankwaso stressed that the experiences from previous elections should serve as a cautionary tale for these so-called leaders, urging them to refrain from imposing their preferences on the populace and to allow for a more genuine democratic process.

He specifically called on Northern elders, especially those from the Northwest, to avoid showing bias when it comes to candidate selection.

Additionally, Kwankwaso dismissed earlier speculation regarding an alleged agreement among himself, former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, which purportedly involved each taking turns in office.
