Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, recently visited the under-construction Ilorin Innovation Hub, a project he believes will be a game-changer for African technology.
The hub is nearing completion, with construction reaching 95% finished. The governor emphasized the importance of taking the time to ensure the project meets high standards and can compete with other innovation hubs in Africa.
While initial delays occurred, AbdulRazaq assured these were necessary to guarantee top-notch construction and content within the hub. Partnering with IHS, a renowned tech company, ensures the hub’s sustainability and access to valuable content.
The governor highlighted the hub’s potential to create opportunities for millions of young Africans and drive overall technological advancement on the continent. Additionally, the facility will be powered by solar energy, promoting sustainable operations.
Despite the initial slow pace, AbdulRazaq expressed satisfaction with the current state of the project. He emphasized the importance of finding the right partner, IHS, to ensure the hub’s success.
Temi Kolawole, managing director of Ilorin Innovation Hub, echoed the governor’s sentiments. He believes the hub will be a catalyst for economic transformation in Kwara State by equipping residents with globally competitive skills and facilitating their entry into the international tech market.
While visiting the innovation hub, AbdulRazaq also inspected ongoing renovations at the Kwara Hotels and the Government House access gate. These projects aim to modernize and revitalize these important landmarks.
The Ilorin Innovation Hub represents a significant investment in Kwara State’s future. With its focus on technology, sustainability, and youth development, the hub has the potential to be a driving force for innovation across Africa.
