Chief Patrick Eholor, a prominent figure in the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, has confidently stated that the people of the state will not make the same mistake of voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election.
He expressed his belief in a landslide victory for the LP on September 21, asserting that if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were to conduct the election today, his party would emerge triumphant.
Eholor emphasized that the residents of Edo are unwilling to endorse another term of the hardships they have endured under the leadership of the APC-led federal government.
He also criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), highlighting the internal conflicts within the party and suggesting that it has little chance of winning the election.
As a human rights activist, Eholor made an appeal to President Bola Tinubu, urging him not to interfere in the Edo election. He called on the president to prioritize addressing the suffering faced by Nigerians.
Additionally, he advised INEC to resist any pressure from the federal government to manipulate the electoral process, warning that doing so would severely undermine Nigeria’s democracy.
Eholor urged INEC to ensure that the Edo election sets a precedent for future elections by conducting a transparent and fair process. He also cautioned security agents against intimidating voters, reminding them of their responsibility to maintain law and order.
Addressing the internal crisis within the Labour Party, Eholor acknowledged its existence but remained optimistic about its impact on the party’s chances in the Edo election.
He expressed his unwavering commitment to the party and expressed confidence that the internal disputes would be resolved amicably.
