The Labour Party (LP) has dismissed allegations from the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission (NLC-PC) suggesting that the party, under the leadership of Julius Abure, is promoting the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement made in Abuja on Friday, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, addressed these claims directly.

Following a recent court ruling affirming Abure’s position as the national chairman of the Labour Party, Ifoh noted that some individuals have attempted to propagate the narrative that the LP is aligned with the APC, citing the party’s success in various legal battles as evidence.

Ifoh characterized these assertions as misleading, malicious, and a deliberate effort to undermine the party’s leadership and tarnish its reputation.

“I want to be unequivocal: the LP has been significantly more critical of the APC than the NLC has ever been. It is important to note that the NLC, in all its forms, has failed the Nigerian workforce,” he stated.

He further emphasized the plight of Nigerian workers, highlighting ongoing oppression, a struggling economy, and unfair treatment in the workplace, asserting that the current Labour Party leadership is the only entity advocating for these marginalized workers.

“The Abure leadership is the most vocal in opposing government actions. It is unprecedented for any party leadership to be as vocal and critical as we have been,” Ifoh asserted.

He concluded by acknowledging the significant achievements of the Labour Party under Julius Abure’s leadership, marking a new era of accomplishments for the party.
