The Kaduna State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has officially stated that Nenadi Usman’s appointment as the National Caretaker Chairman was a direct result of Barrister Julius Abure’s term coming to an end.

In a statement released in Kaduna, Mr. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki and Sani Sahabi, the Chairman and Secretary of the State Labour Party Interim Committee, emphasized that “it’s crucial to note that Barrister Julius Abure and his team’s tenure concluded on June 9, 2024. The pushback against Nenadi Usman’s appointment seems rooted in an unwillingness to acknowledge this fact.”

The party expressed gratitude to Auwal Tafoki for his previous service as the State Chairman, emphasizing the need for the party to progress.

The statement highlighted that Nenadi Usman’s appointment, backed by Governor Alex Otti and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, alongside support from members of national and state assemblies, the NLC, TUC, and other stakeholders, is vital for the party’s continued relevance and operational strength.

It further clarified, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ended all interactions with Barrister Abure and his appointees, making it essential for the party to adapt to this new leadership structure.”

The statement concluded by acknowledging that while embracing change can be difficult, it is necessary for the Labour Party to stay significant and effective. It called on all members and stakeholders to rally behind the new leadership to enhance the party’s future in the nation.
