Yunusa Tanko, a prominent figure in the Labour Party, has firmly asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is to blame for Nigeria’s ongoing issues, rather than Peter Obi.

This statement comes in response to accusations made by APC spokesperson Felix Morka, who claimed that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate was inciting discontent among citizens during an interview.

Tanko criticized the APC and the current administration for preferring to mislead Nigerians instead of tackling the pressing challenges facing the nation.

In his interview, Tanko expressed disbelief at Morka’s comments, stating, “It’s utterly shocking and hard to comprehend. If you look at the prices of basic goods, like a bag of rice, it’s clear that Peter Obi isn’t responsible for these soaring costs. Furthermore, how can the government announce a salary increase for civil servants when, days later, those funds still haven’t reached their pockets?”

He continued, questioning the integrity of the government: “Who is deceiving whom here? Is it Mr. Peter Obi, or is it the APC that is manipulating the truth? The roads leading from Benin to Enugu remain perilously neglected, despite budget allocations for their repair. While the government plans to construct a new road from Calabar to Lagos, one must ask if that is truly the priority at this moment. It is not.”

Tanko also highlighted the alarming situation with banditry in the country, suggesting that even the criminals have accused the government of backing their operations. “Just days ago, we witnessed horrific violence in Zamfara State and Katsina. Who is to blame for this? Certainly not Peter Obi, who was not involved in those attacks. The bandits themselves claim that the government is supporting them.”

He went on to discuss the burden of education costs, stating, “As students prepare to return to school, many families are struggling to afford tuition. This is not an issue created by Peter Obi.”

Tanko Finally emphasized, “You cannot insult the intelligence of Nigerians at such a high level and expect to get away with it. This behaviour is utterly unacceptable.”
