Chief Basil Maduka, a prominent member of the Labour Party (LP), has appealed to all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations, to join forces with President Bola Tinubu in revitalizing the nation’s economy.

Maduka emphasized that the Tinubu administration must adopt a collaborative strategy to tackle the pressing economic issues facing the country. As a former gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party in Imo State during the 2023 elections, he highlighted that economic advancement transcends party lines and is a shared obligation requiring contributions from various stakeholders.

In an interview with reporters in Abuja, Maduka praised the efforts of Tinubu’s economic team while underscoring the importance of inclusivity in their approach.

He remarked, “The President needs experts and technocrats who aren’t confined by party loyalty. It’s crucial for him to unite everyone, regardless of their political background.”

Maduka further stated, “I feel compelled to remind the President that he has an excellent agenda for the nation. However, he requires a capable team to implement his vision. No single individual can achieve this alone.

The effectiveness of any organization or government hinges on its team. After a year in office, it should evolve from being solely an APC administration to a government representing all Nigerians. The goal must be to bring joy to every citizen.”

He continued by reflecting on the misguided perceptions surrounding party politics, noting, “Many of us mistakenly view governance through a partisan lens, thinking ‘this is a PDP government’ or ‘this is an APC government,’ which justifies any action taken. However, the reality is that rising costs of living impact all Nigerians, regardless of their political or ethnic backgrounds.”

Maduka also called upon opposition leaders, including the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to transform their criticisms into constructive input for the government.

He asserted, “It is crucial to prioritize the nation’s interests over party politics in light of the recent elections. Effective opposition can only thrive when it is constructive; being on the outside often leads to being dismissed.”

He added, “While I cannot speak on behalf of Mr. Obi, I believe that opposition is most beneficial when directed purposefully. Engaging with the President to suggest improvements to his programs could be far more impactful for the Nigerian people.”
